Seven Pillars of Wisdom

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

This Treasure is paired with: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (I spy?)

Lawrence worked with British Intelligence in the Middle East during World War I, where he fought alongside Arab forces against the Ottoman Turks. His daring exploits enshrined him in popular imagination as ‘Lawrence of Arabia’, a mythical figure he came to hate even while writing his account of the Arab Revolt. The ‘S.A.’ of the dedicatory poem is thought to be Dahoum, a friend from Lawrence’s pre-war excavations with the British Museum at Carchemish in Syria.
