This Treasure is paired with: Magna Carta (Saved from mice)
So small that a mouse could carry it away? This was apparently the fear of Henry Octavius Coxe, Bodley’s Librarian in the 19th century, who kept this miniature manuscript fixed to a wooden rod with a silver chain. The book was first displayed in the Library in the middle of the 17th century, and remained a popular exhibit for some two and a half centuries. It is the Bodleian’s smallest manuscript.
This Treasure isn’t currently on display in the Weston Library.
