This Treasure is paired with: Shikshapatri (Veneration)
Mañjuśrī, the Bodhisattva of wisdom, is one of the figures adorning the wooden cover of these manuscript verses associated with his teaching. The text is a popular Buddhist work, and the manuscript was commissioned from one monastery in Kathmandu by a monk at another. Gold ink on black paper is typical of Nepalese and Tibetan manuscripts for worship and veneration, and the illumination on the first leaf shows Buddha Śākyamuni in the centre of a lotus.
