Treasures of the Bodleian

Kafka has been brought back to life, and finds out on these pages that he is a famous author, with 564 entries in the Bodleian Library catalogue. At the start of the play, as in real life, his friend Max Brod had promised to burn all his works after his death, but hesitated over the Metamorphosis, as it was already on library shelves. Bennett subsequently revised this draft, replacing the Bodleian Library with the Library of Congress.
