    Objects in detail

This website shows in detail all of the exhibits on show at the Bodleian in Oxford and is organised into the same themes. Each exhibit is shown with one or more images, descriptive text, provenance information and references. Where possible, exhibits are also supported by transcripts, podcasts, videos and downloadable resources for teachers.

On each exhibit page you will find a large central image and a thumbnail gallery of additional images where available. Click on the large image to display the zoomed view. You can zoom in and out using the controls at the top left of the screen. When you are zoomed in you can pan (look) around the image by holding your mouse button on the image and dragging in any direction. Please note that these files are quite large so the page may take a moment to load.

    Audio recordings

This website includes a range of letters, diaries and other manuscripts from the exhibition that have been brought to life in a series of podcasts, read by University of Oxford student actors. If there is a podcast available for an exhibit, you will see an image of a pair of headphones next to its image. Simply click on the headphones to play. All podcasts are also available on our media page.

    Interactive media

We have also created a series of interactive media to enrich and guide your experience of the exhibition, including an interactive world map plotting all the objects in the exhibition, a timeline of the objects and a Choriorama. You can find the interactive media in one place in the Media section.
